‘Former Council Vice Chairmen G-68’ Elects New Leaders, Reaffirms Support for Oyo APC

In a bid to revitalise their movement, the forum of former local council vice chairmen in Oyo-State, elected during the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, converged at the former Oyo ALGON Office in Ibadan on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The group, now known as Oyo ‘Former Vice Chairmen G-68,’ unanimously elected new executives, with Hon. (Chief) Ademola Olawale ‘AGBADEMO’ (Ogbomoso Central LCDA) as chairman, Hon. Jacob Akintola ‘JP (Ibarapa East) as secretary, Hon. (Dr.) Abigael Gbolasire (IWA LCDA) as treasurer, and Hon. Monsuru Adeyemo ‘Socrates’ (Aare Latosa LCDA) as publicity secretary.
During his acceptance speech, Chief Ademola appreciated the confidence placed in him and vowed to be a servant leader. The group paid homage to late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, describing him as a worthy benefactor, and they observed a minute of silence for the departed former local council vice chairmen and other progressive leaders.
The Oyo ‘Former Vice Chairmen G-68’ subsequently paid a solidarity visit to Alhaji Moshood Olayide Abas, Oyo APC chairman, at the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan. Chief Ademola lauded Alhaji Abas as a charismatic leader, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the party to victory in 2027.
“We’re on a tripartite agenda,” Chief Ademola stated. “First, we declare our unalloyed support for your visionary leadership as Oyo APC chairman. Second, we reaffirm our loyalty and support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Third, we’re your foot soldiers, available to run party errands and reclaim Oyo State from the PDP.”
Alhaji Abas emphasised unity as the key to overcoming the party’s challenges and achieving victory. He encouraged political engagement at the grassroots level and appreciated the former vice chairmen for their solidarity visit.
Oyo APC Public Relations Officer, Olawale Sadare maintained that the party remains an unbiased umpire, committed to fairness and transparency in the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.
Other party officials, including Oyo APC Secretary Prince Tajudeen Olanite and Treasurer Alhaji Olalekan Buhari, also addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of unity and grassroots engagement in achieving party goals.
