Skills Development Crucial for Nigeria’s Real Estate Growth – Bimbo Kolade

The Lagos state chapter of The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) recently organised a Building Conference with the theme “Breaking Barriers and Empowering Change in Nigerian Real Estate Sector, Process, and Control.

Hon. Bimbo Kolade, a renowned professional builder and housing development expert, on the sidelines of the programme, emphasised the importance of skills development in addressing the challenges facing the industry.

“The collapse of buildings can be largely prevented by breaking down barriers to collaboration among professionals,” Kolade stated. He furthered,”Skills development is a major hurdle that needs to be overcome, and doing so will help alleviate Nigeria’s unemployment situation.

Adebayo Odusanya, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, identified lack of cooperation among professionals, engagement of quacks, and delays in land title approvals as significant barriers to the construction industry’s growth. He stressed that synergy among professionals is essential to overcoming these challenges and unlocking the sector’s potential for Nigeria’s economic development.

The conference brought together professionals from the building sector, government officials, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for breaking down these barriers.

As the 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Building and a Federal Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Kolade’s expertise and leadership are instrumental in driving growth in Nigeria’s real estate sector.

By addressing the challenges facing the industry and investing in skills development, Nigeria’s real estate sector can unlock its full potential and contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth.

Bimbo Kolade is an entrepreneur, public servant, and philanthropist. He is a professional Builder and housing development expert.
In his early career, he worked with Tower Aluminum Nigeria PLC, in the building products division where he rose to become the sales and marketing manager and the most senior Nigerian within the establishment.
While in Tower, he handled the roofing of Muritala Muhammed Airport (MMA2) and Dangote cement plant a Obajana.
He left Tower Aluminum to establish his own company DAK Aluminium System Ltd where he is the President and CEO of this solution-oriented company.
Having a great heart for serving his people and his community, he has been actively involved in politics, has contested political positions, and has also been appointed to various political positions.
He served as a Commissioner in Oyo State for a period of eight years in four different ministries between 2011 to 2019.
Bimbo is currently a Federal Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
He is also the 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Building.
