ROYALTY: Akin Alabi Joins Ibadan Chieftaincy Line As Jagun Olubadan

Hon. Akin Alabi, the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Member representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has been named the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, officially marking his entry into the Ibadan chieftaincy line.

The announcement was made on Monday, May 19th, 2025, by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, at the Olubadan Palace. His coronation is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 23rd, 2025, following the customs and traditions of Ibadanland.

The Ibadan chieftaincy system is one of the most respected traditional structures in Yorubaland, known for its well-defined, stepwise progression through 23 hierarchical stages. The title of Jagun Olubadan is the starting point in this lineage and carries immense historical and cultural weight.

Reacting to the announcement, Hon. Alabi expressed profound gratitude:
