IBADANLAND: Barr Opeyemi Tijani ‘BOT’ Celebrates Senator Folarin’s Elevation As Aare Alaasa Olubadan
Barrister Opeyemi Tijani (BOT), an Ibarapa-born politician and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has congratulated Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin (TKF) on his recent elevation and installation as the Aare Alaasa Olubadan of Ibadanland. The prestigious title was conferred by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, in accordance with the revered customs and chieftaincy hierarchy of the Ibadan Traditional Council.
Senator Folarin, a three-term senator and prominent APC figure, was promoted from his former title of Ikolaba Olubadan to the esteemed rank of Aare Alaasa, marking a significant milestone in his traditional leadership journey. The Olubadan chieftaincy system, known for its structured promotion process, recognises individuals who exemplify dedication to communal development and cultural preservation.
In his commendation, Barr. Tijani lauded Senator Folarin’s dual impact in both the traditional and political spheres, noting, “Chief Senator Folarin’s elevation reflects his unwavering commitment to the ideals of Ibadanland and his exemplary service to our nation. His ability to harmonise cultural heritage with progressive governance sets a benchmark for leadership.” He further emphasised the importance of traditional institutions in fostering unity and development, particularly in Oyo State’s socio-political landscape.
Senator Folarin, a former Senate Leader and gubernatorial candidate, has long been a bridge between Nigeria’s political corridors and grassroots traditions. His new role as Aare Alaasa Olubadan underscores his deepened responsibility in advising the Olubadan and contributing to the preservation of Ibadan’s rich cultural legacy.
