PHOTOS: Dr Ajibola Basiru Urges Inclusive Politics As Progressive e-Group ‘PeG’ Pays Courtesy Visit to APC Nat’l Secretary

The leadership of the Progressive e-Group (PeG), led by its Coordinator, Mr. Abiodun Collins, paid a courtesy visit to the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Senator Ajibola Basiru (SRJ), at his residence in GRA. The delegation included members of the PeG Executive, Board of Trustees (BoT), and key stakeholders.

During the meeting, PeG formally introduced its newly inaugurated executives and sought Dr. Basiru’s guidance on party affairs. The group emphasised the need to maintain synergy with the APC and noted that his strategic position as National Secretary should serve as an advantage for the party in Osun State and the South West. PeG also commended his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman, acknowledging his contributions to the party’s electoral victories in states like Edo and Ondo.

Furthermore, PeG requested political consideration and empowerment opportunities for its members, highlighting their efforts in online party promotion and grassroots mobilisation.

Dr. Basiru appreciated PeG’s visit and praised the group’s consistency. He reaffirmed his commitment to the APC’s progressive ideology, stating that he does not engage in sectional or caucus-based politics but aligns with groups that demonstrate absolute loyalty to the party’s cause.

Reflecting on his political journey, he acknowledged that his dedication to the APC has earned him several key positions, including Special Adviser, Commissioner, Senator, National Secretary, and Chairman of the National Sugar Board. He recognised these roles as positions of trust that have prepared him for greater responsibilities at the state, national, and international levels.

Dr. Basiru advised PeG and all APC stakeholders to embrace inclusive politics and learn from past setbacks. He emphasised that personal ambition should never supersede the party’s interest and reiterated that the APC is a party of leadership.

Regarding the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election, Dr. Basiru confirmed his intention to contest, assuring that any decision he makes will be in consultation with party leadership at both state and national levels. He urged APC members to unite in constructive criticism of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration and work toward reclaiming power in 2026. He further stated that if President Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola, and other APC leaders endorse his candidacy, he will accept their call to serve.

Dr. Basiru encouraged PeG to remain steadfast and avoid alliances with individuals or groups whose interests conflict with the party’s progressive values. He pledged his support to PeG and urged the group to intensify efforts in gathering factual information, including pictorial evidence, to hold the present government accountable. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of active grassroots engagement.

Dr. Basiru commended PeG for maintaining decorum on social media, distinguishing itself from those who resort to personal attacks and abusive language. He advised the group to continue promoting the APC’s agenda while fostering internal unity ahead of the next election cycle.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Lukman Ayelabowo expressed gratitude to Dr. Basiru for his hospitality and insightful advice. He also prayed for the continued success of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
