Oluyole MHR Hopeful, Rasheed Ojesanmi Charges Govt to Prioritise Youth Empowerment

• Describes Youth As Engine Room of Growth, Development in Any Society
Abimbola Rasheed Ojesanmi, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain from Oluyole Federal Constituency, has called on all local council chairmen, House of Assembly and House of Representatives members, senators, Oyo State government, organisations and private individuals to give priority to youth development, which he maintained will empower the youth not only for economic survival but also for future leadership roles.
Ojesanmi charged all the council mayors, assembly members, House of Representatives members, senators, and Oyo State government to make youth empowerment schemes their priorities, reiterating that all local governments, constituencies, state and nation that are not empowering their youths and consciously investing in their next generation are not serious societies.
Ojesanmi gave the charge while speaking with journalists after having an interactive session with some youth bodies, describing the youth as the engine of growth and development in any society.
Ojesanmi said the image sold about the present generation depresses the hope of the next generation, saying, “We must understand our future is not secured if the future of the next generation is not properly placed.”
Hence, Ojesanmi called on elected and appointed officeholders across Oluyole Federal Constituency and Oyo State to create an enabling environment starting with proper education that incorporates vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
Ojesanmi maintained that leaders and political office holders in Oluyole Federal Constituency need to be deliberate in considering the Oluyole youth when signing bilateral agreements with investors, including capacity for skills. He said: “When people are underutilised, there is agitation; hence the need for political office holders to restructure our system to be more equitable and empowering with skills. We need to retrain our people for new generational jobs.”
According to Ojesanmi, youths provide the necessary labour force for the production of goods and services and are critical to the economic development of Oluyole Federal Constituency and Oyo State, urging them all to key into any project that will equip the youths.
“While we make selfless contributions towards youth empowerment schemes, let’s always positively encourage and engage our youths at all times to check societal ills and enthrone a society that we can all be proud of,” he stated.
Ojesanmi reiterated that more participation is needed in the process of how leaders are elected in the country stating that youths with capacity must be supported to vie for political leadership positions.
